Europe’s Emission Trading System (EU ETS) started in the maritime sector on 1st January 2024. The introduction of this compliance-based carbon cost means that operators (including Lakeway Link) need to buy emission rights to cover their CO2 emissions each year. Lakeway Link route between Poland and Sweden have been regulated under this EU ETS from the beginning of this year.

Swedish shipping company Lakeway Link announces the acquisition of the RoRo vessel Miramar Express. The vessel, which will be renamed M/S Lakeway Express, is set to deploy Lakeway Link’s new service connecting Poland and Sweden.
