Lakeway Link acquires RoRo vessel Miramar Express to launch new service between Poland and Sweden

Swedish shipping company Lakeway Link announces the acquisition of the RoRo vessel Miramar Express. The vessel, which will be renamed M/S Lakeway Express, is set to deploy Lakeway Link's new service connecting Poland and Sweden.
A large green cargo ship named "Lakeway Link" is sailing away from a harbor on a clear, sunny day. The ship is prominently marked with the name "Lakeway Express" and is surrounded by calm blue waters. The harbor area has various buildings, trees, and a docked navy ship. Small boats are visible in the water, and breakwaters extend into the lake, defining the harbor's entrance. The sky is clear with a few scattered clouds, and the overall scene conveys a sense of serene maritime activity.

Lakeway Link’s services are scheduled to start in April, initially offering three weekly departures between Gdynia and Södertälje. The company intends to expand its services to include additional traffic to Västerås by 2026 following the reconstruction of the Södertälje locks.

The M/S Lakeway Express, constructed in 1999, features an overall length of 153.38 meters, a gross tonnage of 10,471 MT, and a carrying capacity of 1625 lane meters or approximately 110 trailers.

“I’m extremely happy to announce that our anticipated service between Poland and Sweden is now launching in line with previous notifications. It is with high ambitions that we introduce this new service to the market, not only enabling efficient transportation but also reducing environmental impact by utilizing waterways.”, says Fredrik Hermansson, CEO Lakeway Link

By introducing a regular line service with fixed departures, featuring traditional RoRo services for trailers and efficient handling of shipments, Lakeway Link offers a robust alternative or complement to road and rail transportation.

“Lakeway Link is ready to streamline and enhance the transport experience between Sweden and Poland with a reliable and environmentally competitive solution for our customers.”, says Hermansson.
