The transportation of Electric Buses from Gdynia to Södertälje – A customer case

Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo) transport is an ideal solution for moving large machines and vehicles such as bulldozers, tractors, and in this case, buses. At Lakeway Link, we provide RoRo services for a wide range of cargo. Recently, we had the pleasure of supporting Stockholm’s initiative to transition to electric-powered public transportation by transporting electric buses from Gdynia, Poland, to Södertälje, Sweden.

These buses, manufactured in Poland, are set to join Stockholm’s local transit system. This step allows the city to reduce overall energy consumption as it integrates electric buses and furthers Region Stockholm’s commitment to achieving emission-free public transit.

The first phase of the project involved transporting 135 buses, with 8–10 buses shipped per voyage. This was followed by a second phase of approximately 300 buses, showcasing the scalability of our logistics solutions and the efficiency of RoRo vessels for handling high-volume shipments of this nature.

Why choose Lakeway Link for your high-volume cargo?

Our Roll-on/Roll-off service offers an efficient and secure method to transport oversized and heavy cargo, such as buses. With regular departures between Gdynia and Södertälje and an emphasis on reliability, we ensure that every shipment arrives on time under safe conditions.
